CONTEST: What Am I Thinking?

Yep, it’s time for another WAIT!  Best caption for what these folks are thinking wins the prize.  Be sure to name the person (or character) is doing the thinking and then what they are thinking.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner… okay, that’s what it will be, if you’re live and local you’ll be invited over for some grilled chicken, sounds good.

I’ll take the thoughts for the next day or so, update those that I think are in contention and post the winner below!  Enjoy this one, Elisabeth snapped it last week at Disneyland.  Just post under “comments” (click above) and if it doesn’t post right away, no worries, I just have to approve it first if you haven’t commented in some time (or ever).

Grace,

Brian

****IN THE RUNNING****

rackyj21:

Eeyore: I guess that guy was right… an eeyore ride would be useless… *sigh*

Brad (even though he’s slamming me… and dead wrong I might add):

“Man, nothing’s going my way. I really wish Youthmark would take off, so I don’t have to have this 2nd job anymore.”

Alon (should have just kept it with Eeyore):

Eeyore is thinking: “I hate it when I fart in this suit with the head on!”

The Wifey:

“‘Happiest place on earth’ my ass.”

Micah:

Ouch, ouch, ouch, I knew I shouldn’t have volunteered for donkey games with kids, that pin hurts.

*** The Winner ***

Loved a lot of them; had to delete a couple of them, but “The Wifey” wins the prize with her risky, but very clever donkey/disney play on words.

CONTEST: Brush With Fame

Elisabeth and I were up at Pike Place Market on Friday, I was able to sneak off a picture of another semi-famous person.  He was looking down at his iphone texting away so I took advantage and snapped a photo with my iphone!

Here’s how this works, you get to guess who the person is in this photo, if nobody gets it right I will start adding clues.

If  you already know that I saw this person this weekend you are not eligible to guess!

IMG_0017

Guess away, clues below as needed (and updated every few hours).  Since I saw him at Starbucks, that’s what you get if you win.

Grace,
Brian

****************

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner (or Starbucks technically).  Sort of a fun “Brush With Fame” but also a tough one to do, because I knew I should have had some more stringent rules, like “if you went to school with this guy you can’t guess.”  But, I didn’t, so good job Kevin Hearne, you win.

This is Mike Penberthy, played with the Lakers for a couple seasons and then went to to be a start in some European leagues as well.  He was in town to speak at a Men’s Retreat (he and his wife stayed with us actually, so it wasn’t like I just ran into him at Pike Place, we took them to Pike Place).  Ha.

More on Mike and Wendy’s time here in a later post!

CONTEST: Brush With Fame

If you were there, if I already told you, you’re not allowed to play.

This should be an easy one, therefore the prize is a simple one, a coffee at Sbux with me next time we see each other.

Who is this “famous person” I took a picture of recently at a grocery store?

BrushWithFame

If someone doesn’t get this based on just the picture then I will either post a larger pic or begin to give some clues.  In other words, I intentionally made it a small picture!

Grace,
Brian

*** Hints ***

1. Been on the big and little screen

2. I speak english

3. Updated larger picture below

4. From the land of U2 and Guinness

*****WINNER****** AND UPDATE ABOUT MY BRUSH WITH FAME******

I got up this morning and Elisabeth announced to me “you have a winner, it’s Jeramy.”  Well, I got online and because first-time commenters (or those who haven’t commented in quite some time) have to be approved by the blog-owner I found that the actual winner was Ben.  He got his Pierce Brosnan answer in about a half hour before Jeramy.  Congrats Ben.  And as an FYI, Andrea who commented that she knew the answer but wanted to see if someone else knew, did in fact know the answer, I saw her on Facebook last night and she told me the answer but hoped someone more local would win.

I posted the largest picture below, where you can see more clearly that it is Pierce.

My conversation with him.

In the checkout line at Foodland, as Pierce grabs a “US Weekly” or some other gossip magazine I said, “trying to find yourself in there?”

With his Irish accent and laughter he says, “I certainly hope not, I haven’t done anything to warrant my being in here.”

He didn’t have his club-card with him for his grocery discount, but the cashier was kind enough to look in the system (after she had him spell his last name for her) and he got the discount on his $34 bill.  Which he paid for with a $50.  I noticed because he had to get past the five or six $100 bills to find the smaller denomination.

CONTEST: Who Am I?

It’s been a long time since I have done this sort of contest, but in the last couple weeks I have had a few brushes with fame, a couple that even have pictures; so we’ll start with the more difficult of the two.

One of the rules, if you were with me on this trip (or if you’re a reader whom I have talked to about this brush), please do not participate in this contest.

I will add clues below the picture every few hours until someone guesses correctly.  You submit your entry by “commenting” with your guess.

The Winner gets the choice of a Youthmark book or Youthmark T-shirt…

Who am I? (specifically the man in this pic)

Who Am I?

******************* The Story *******************

“My Saturday”

On Saturday morning (1) (2), (3), I took off from SeaTac airport to fly to (4).  I was on a Boeing (5) jet.  The (6) flight was pretty uneventful.  No time to (7) or (8) because it was such a short flight.

I arrived and (9) rented a (10) which would serve as my transportation for these two days down near the border.  I was very excited to have a (12) lunch with the Murrell family in Pine Valley.  I brought a (13) team to serve them a couple (14) ago.  After lunch I drove to Julian to meet with Pastor Rick and eat some Julian (15) Pie.  We got to chat about (16) and (17).

I was so (18) by this day, I came down from the hill and got back just in time to eat dinner with my friend Jeramy, who wrote the book “I Gave (19) a Chance.”  Dinner was so great, Jerusha served Grilled Chicken with (20) as a side dish.

Then it was time for bed!

Grace,

Brian

******* Winners *********

Instead of posting a “winner” on this, thought I’d post some of my favorite Aab-Lib lines from the entries. And of course a little commentary after each of them as to why I thought they were great.

“…I took off from SeaTac airport to fly to Yakima”  Byron (dude, nobody would fly to Yakima)

“..No time to lick or fly because it was such a short flight.” Byron (if I remember correctly, I did “lick and fly” on this flight, in fact, I licked a fly, that’s right.)

“…Jerusha served Grilled Chicken with wedding cake as a side dish.”  The Wifey (I could see Jerusha doing such a thing)

“…No time to crash or climb because it was such a short flight” The Wifey (this is great because it fit with flying… well, I hope the crashing never does fit…)

“…No time to crabwalk or skip because it was such a short flight” Brad (c’mon, who crabwalks anymore?)

“…I brought a lazy team to serve them a couple nano seconds ago”  Brad (I love it because a lazy team would only serve for a nano second)

“…and eat some Julian seafood Pie.” RackyJ21 (the very thought of seafood makes me sick, so good work Ricky)

“…
with my friend Jeramy, who wrote the book “I Gave Dying a Chance.”  RackyJ21 (classic, wonder how that book turned out?)

“…rented a rock which would serve as my transportation”  HG McGee (is that an American made car?)

“…We got to chat about flower and leaf.” HG McGee (I could just see me and Rick chatting about flower and leaf)

CONTEST: Ninja Chipmunk W.A.I.T.

I started a contest series awhile back entitled, “What Am I Thinking?”  Up until now it has always been family and friends who I’ve pictured.  I saw this pic on a friends facebook the other day, couldn’t pass this one up.  So… What am I thinking (WAIT)?

You choose the thought (s) of either of these rodents (or both) and “comment” them.  The funniest will be In The Running and then an eventual winner will be chosen as well.  Let’s see if you’ll be the first contest winner of 2009 (I’ll end the contest on January 2).

In celebration of the Chipmunk the winner will get a jar of nuts.

What Am I Thinking?... or what are we thinking?

What Am I Thinking?... or what are we thinking?

Let the comments begin!

Thanksgiving Poll

I often do “opening questions” when leading a small group (seems to break the ice well), and this or a version of the poll below always seems to create good controversy!  Give me your vote and don’t hesitate to comment with your strong opinion as well!

Brian
